Environment:. MS Outlook for Mac 2016 (version 15.41; build 171205). MS Exchange 2016 (on-premises).
macOS High Siera (version 10.13.2). Storage 184GB available (total 250GB) Issue Summary: One user reported that his Outlook keeps downloading attachments for emails in INBOX folder (10,000+ items in Inbox). Once done, it starteds to repeat the process and shows the numbers in the status bar of Outlook. The Sync Errors had a couple of following error logged. Error: The mailbox database is temporarily unavailable. The process failed to get the correct properties.
Mail could not be sent. The message has been moved to your Drafts folder. Details: Mail could not be sent. The message has been moved to your Drafts folder. Error code: -19746 From reading elsewhere on the internet, I emptied the Cache for the Inbox folder and restarted Outlook.
Error Code 36 in Mac Finder resolved with OS X dot_clean tool If you run into Error Code -36 on a Mac, there's usually a really simple solution thanks to a handy.
This caused the Outlook on his Mac to re-download all the emails. Took some time but we havent seen this issue. BUT the user reported (a couple of minutes after we emptied the cache on his outlook) that his Calender enteries on his 'iPhone' disappeared. We have asked the user to remove and re-add his account on iPhone.(Still to get confirmation if that got the calender enteries to be visible again on his phone). But I am confused as to why would such a thing happen.
Our internal Exchnage admins say its not an issue on thier side.
I have been running (successfully) IMAP connections to both gmail and another hosted email domain for close on two years. All of a sudden when I click on the Gmail/All Mail or Gmail/Sent Mail folders I continue to receive Error: 1025 messages. These specify. Error: Unknown Mailbox: Gmail/All Mail (Failure) Explanation: Mail could not be received at this time. Account name: 'Gmail' Error: 1025 OR Error: Unknown Mailbox: Gmail/Sent Mail (Failure) Explanation: Mail could not be received at this time. Account name: 'Gmail' Error: 1025 I have not to my knowledge touched any of the settings or preferences that have been operating trouble free for two years.
I am hoping that someone can offer some advice? I am still able to send and receive mail via Entourage via IMAP through gmail. The problem I am describing relates to what is referred to by some as the 'double tree structure but it is a structure that I am unwilling to change if at all possible. Thanks in advance:-) Akshay Kanwar 27/9/2009, 11:07 น.
Hi Akshay - don't feel quite so alone out there now! Thanks for your reply. Here is a link to the Entourage help page - not sure whether you have found this. This first link attempts to address the error numbers. I have followed the instructions here with no success and why I should need to change something that has been working successfully for over 12 months I'm not sure. I was planning on seeking help here as well but haven't had time as yet - you will the help options on the right top corner of the page.
Feel free to have a go and let me know if you have any success and vice versa. The majority of posts that I have seen elsewhere on the net seems to suggest this is NOT a Microsoft problem believe it or not but instead seems to point at a problem with the server imap settings - see below. I had hoped we might receive a qualified response from an experienced gmail user or better still from Google - maybe I am hoping for too much. Here is a another posting site that I have 'yet' to dig through in case you get a chance to see if there is anything useful in the archives:-) Stay in touch. Akshay Kanwar 27/9/2009, 13:23 น. Sounds positive! Still not sure why it would have changed but to answer your questions (be easier if you could post screenshots!).
1) Under account setting your account Name must be your email ID and not your name. Under Account Settings tab I have the following starting from the top. Account name: Gmail followed by a ticked checkbox 'incl this a/c in my send and rec all sched' Under the heading Personal information: Name: My name Email address: my gmail email address Under Receiving mail heading: Acc ID: my email address without the extension @?? Hi there, Not sure if there is anyway to avoid it from time to time. My lingering suspicion is that it is to do with overloaded servers 'somewhere'. In saying that I reverted to my old settings and consequently ended up resyncing ALL my mail ALL over again BUT it seems to have been relatively stable since.
I say that with crossed fingers as i have had to do the odd 'Repair Message List'. What it does mean under my way of doing things is that you end up with what looks like two lots of Gmail i.e. You have your Entourage IMAP version headed with your account name, probably your full email address. Under this it has sub folders - Inbox, Deleted Items, Drafts, Sent Items, Junk E-mail and then a further sub folder entitled Google Mail which is a replica of your Gmail web client i.e. All Mail, Bin, Drafts, Sent Mail, Spam etc etc. This i think is because I do NOT specify a Root Folder.
Might seem messy but it works for me - and right now stability is more important than looks! Anyway, i will give you what my settings are as best i can by text. (If you want to provide me your email address I could possibly screen shot everything for you.) 1) I have my full email address as the name in Account Settings SAME. 2) Root folder is: 'Gmail' UNDER THE OPTIONS TAB I HAVE THE FOLLOWING: Send commands to server simultaneously - unchecked Always download complete message bodies - checked In Inbox only - unchecked Partially receive messages over.
unchecked Root folder - blank (this is the way I had it before and it worked and i have reveretd back to it) Live Sync - checked Only connect to inbox - checked Connect immediately on launch - checked Dissconnect from server after. unchecked Check for unread messages in subscribed folders - checked.
4) Yes, special folders are all checked SAME I hope this helps but BE PREPARED for it to purge and try and do a full reload of all your mail. Maybe archive the bulk of your older mail off first as a precaution and do a backup!!!
Secondly - I fired up the native Mail application and am now running them in tandem. My intention is to 'exclude' Entourage from my Time Machine backups and backup Mail instead.
Like Outlook, Entourage is one big database (another possible reason for problems!) and evertime you do a back up you back up the entire database whereas (so I am told) Mail is different and recognises each mail item seperately and will therefore only back up the changes. Adlersberg 11/4/2010, 8:40 น. Just took your advice as I am also receiving multiple error messages a day and it's really annoying. I changed my account name to my gmail address and changed the root folder to gmail and now all my folders are gone! I changed it back to the way it was originally and now my folders are blank but they are all empty. I checked online in my gmail account and all the emails are still in those folders. Should I completely delete my gmail account from Entourage and then re-establish it?
If i do this, will i get all the data back in the folders? Or is there another way to get the folders repopulated? Dmclune12 15/8/2010, 5:56 น.
